What COVID-19 testing does Phosphorus perform?

Phosphorus performs RT-qPCR testing to detect active SARS-CoV-2 in an individual. This COVID-19 test is referred to as Pinpoint by Phosphorus.

Is Phosphorus qualified to do COVID-19 testing?

We are a genomics company that provides comprehensive, at-home genetic testing. We have delivered accurate and scientifically-complex tests to patients throughout the globe. Our state-of-the-art laboratory has accreditations and certifications from the College of American Pathology (CAP) and the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH).  Our COVID-19 at home collection kit has been granted an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The home collection kit, Pinpoint by Phosphorus, has been authorized for at-home, non-supervised collection and maintenance of saliva specimens to detect nucleic acid from SARS-CoV-2.

Should I be tested for COVID-19?

If you suspect that you currently have or have recently been exposed to COVID-19, Pinpoint by Phosphorus may be an option for you. 

Can I order a COVID-19 test even when I have no symptoms?

The Pinpoint by Phosphorus COVID-19 test has been granted an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) by the FDA for the qualitative detection of nucleic acid from SARS-CoV-2. The EUA has been granted for use by any individuals aged 18 years or older, including individuals without symptoms, when determined to be appropriate by a healthcare provider.

What is the difference between COVID-19 testing with saliva and COVID-19 testing with Nasal Swab?

The Pinpoint by Phosphorus saliva based test is able to be done without physician oversight and does not require a nasal swab. The saliva collection device has been approved by the FDA. The Pinpoint by Phosphorus saliva based test is 97.1% sensitive and 98.2% specific. 

Can my minor/child/infant use this COVID-19 test?

With parental consent, we can accept saliva samples from minors. Please note that we do not include an apparatus to assist children to perform the test. Patients must provide 2mL of saliva.

Can my COVID-19 test results be used for local or international travel?

For information on travel testing requirements we advise that you check with health authorities in the state or country of your destination, as well as your airline.
